March is women’s history month. The national theme this year is Women’s Education - Women’s Empowerment.
Look to your left and to your right in most classroom’s today, and you’ll find that the ratio of men to women is abundantly in the womens’ favor. However, history shows that education has not always been an equal right given to women. Hundreds of pioneers sacrificed sweat and tears for the cause.
The first college charted in America, Harvard, opened in 1636 and did not admit women until 1879. Even then, they were lectured in an annex, in all-female settings. Enacted in 1977, Title IX of the Education Codes of the Higher Education Act Amendments made it illegal for federally funded institutions to discriminate against women in any way regarding education and the tools needed to successfully gain it.
Surely the face of education has changed since then, so we say to our fellow female scholars: Stop taking this journey toward paramount success for granted!
How you can celebrate:
Plan a reception, luncheon, or event that honors women in your community who are pioneering roles models whose lives need to be part of the historic record.
Invite a woman from history to be at your celebration program.
Suggest that your local newspaper, radio and TV programs honor teachers.
Ask your children’s teacher what is planned for National Women’s History Month.

Planned Parenthood … Learned about it in class and it really opened my eyes..
Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.” -Rachel Naomi Remen

if you’re sleeping you’re wasting time…….especially if you know you got things to do……..
Life will always be handing out different plans than the ones we had envisioned… but the key is all in how you respond to them… I’m learning that “Plan B” may not be what I wanted, but the more I am willing to shift gears and actively look for blessings, I tend to find exactly what I’m looking for.
